A newly established organisation, the Bangladesh Centre for Republicans (BCR), has officially commenced its activities with an aim at strengthening US-Bangladesh relations and fostering a more cordial partnership between the two nations.
The inaugural ceremony took place on Thursday (29th March) at McLaren’s on Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue in the capital. The event was presided over by the organisation’s Convener, Professor Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BNCC, and was attended by distinguished personalities, including academics, retired military and civilian officials, as well as representatives from the media.
The keynote address was delivered by the organisation’s Member Secretary, Fahad Zahed, an academic and entrepreneur. Other notable speakers included Rear Admiral (Retd.) Anwar Hossain, Major General (Retd.) Md. Siddiqur Rahman Sarker, Air Vice Marshal (Retd.) Sadruddin Ahmed, Air Commodore (Retd.) M. Abdus Samad Azad, Dr Farzana Islam Rupa, Professor Farhad Hossain, Dr Nafiz Raihan, Advocate Kaiser Ahmed, freedom fighter Ershadul Haque Bulbul, and prominent businessman, social worker, and thinker Abdul Hamid.
In his address, Professor Lt. Colonel Nazmul Ahsan Kalimullah, BNCC, underscored the importance of promoting freedom of speech, democracy, and peace to further enhance US-Bangladesh relations.
He also emphasised that both countries could support one another through dialogue and mutual cooperation on complex issues.
The convener further highlighted that BCR has commenced its operations with a commitment to functioning as a non-political and non-profit organisation, dedicated to fostering stronger bilateral ties.
